~ Psychotherapy for individuals and small groups, ages 18+ in Washington state

My approach ~
Therapy can offer a place to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the experiences that have shaped you. It can bring acceptance, relief, connection, and a sense of possibility. It can also be challenging at times, bringing up difficult thoughts, emotions, memories, or physical sensations. Change can sometimes affect other parts of our lives and relationships.
We can make room for all of this in our work together.
My work is integrative and draws from attachment, relational, psychodynamic, existential, and feminist theories. Depending on your needs and interests, I also draw from mindfulness, mind-body awareness, parts work, grounding practices, and attention to emotion and the nervous system.
I work from a trauma-aware perspective and purposefully consider the important ways relationships, identity, culture, community, and larger social conditions shape our experiences and well-being.
I provide individual and small-group therapy for adults in Washington, through secure telehealth. I also offer limited in-office appointments in Seattle. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) practicing under clinical supervision as I work toward full licensure.

Background
I have a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University - a program I chose in part because of its emphasis on equity, social justice, and inclusion.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight one, and I value what those different chapters of my life bring to the work I do now. Before becoming a therapist, I worked in public education as both a paraeducator and elementary school teacher, with a background in elementary and special education. I also spent a number of years self-employed in construction and related fields.
Those experiences have given me opportunities to know and work alongside people in very different circumstances and stages of life, and they have shaped how I understand work, the realities people live with, and the many ways a life can unfold.
